Dismissal of Bani Sadr as President

To the attention of his Excellency Grand Ayatollah Imam Khomeini, may God protect him,

I respectfully notify you that after the discussion and evaluation that took place on 6/21/1981 during a gathering by the Islamic Consultative Assembly, consisting of 190 persons as described below:

Votes in favor: 177 persons, votes in opposition: 1 person, neutral votes: 12 persons

In regards to Seyed Abolhassan Bani Sadr, it was decided that he does not possess adequate political competency for the Presidency of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Under Article 110 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the particulars of the case have been placed at your service (the highly esteemed Imam Khomeini) and judgment.

After the majority vote of the respected representatives of the Islamic Consultative Assembly concluding that Mr. Seyed Abolhassan Bani Sadr does not possess adequate political competency for the Presidency of the Islamic Republic of Iran, I have dismissed him from his duties as the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
